A group of scientists, within the framework of the international LHCb Collaboration, has discovered three new particles, which have never been observed before.

We are talking about the exotic pentaquark and a pair of interconnected tetraquarks, which includes a new type of tetraquark. Thus, the list of hadrons found at the Large Hadron Collider has been expanded again.

It is reported that the new pentaquark was discovered as part of the analysis of decay events of negatively charged B-mesons. It consists of a charmed quark and an antiquark, and with them an upper quark, a lower quark, and a strange quark. All this makes it the first pentaquark in history to contain a strange quark.

The statistical significance level of the discovery was estimated at 15 (sigmas). For comparison, in particle physics in general about the discovery of the particle speak already at a significance level above five sigmas.

In turn, a new two-charged tetraquark with an open charm was observed together with its neutral counterpart in a joint analysis of decays of positively charged and neutral B-mesons. Their sigma level was 6.5 for the former and 8 sigma for the latter.
